It's Not All About I

When we help others during our time of pain and sorrow and through our own problems, we help ourselves in the process. It's not selfish to be concerned with whatever situation you are in. Just don't be so consumed in self-pity that you don't look around and see others needs and aren't capable of sympathizing with them because the only thing that matters is YOUR problems. If someone comes to you, maybe they really need to talk, forget about yourself for 5 minutes and LISTEN to what they need to say. Some people need to get things off their chest, and you get to be that lucky person to help them and counsel them. If you came to someone you would want them to listen to you in your time of desperation. It should be a compliment when someone comes to you for your advice or help. So...do unto others as you would have them do to you. Be like Jesus. Be selfless.

You are totally correct in that it is a privilege to be approached by someone in need. That person is entrusting you to help them or just listen. It is an honor to be chosen in this way. Great post!
