When we make a mess, the only way to move forward is to clean it up. We have to have that mindset of starting over. Forget the failure that just occurred and leave it in the past. Wash your hands. From this moment on, it's a clean slate. When we fail time and time again, all we need to do is step back and access. Realize what we did wrong, then take action. Sometimes the best way is to refresh. Thus, the washing of the hands, ergo...clean slate. Fresh. A new start. There is something beautiful about that process. I hope when I wash my hands (literally) that I will remember that my past failures should stay there. I can start over. A fresh, clean start everyday. Decide to do better each day.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. - 2 Corinthians 5:17
